Dehydrocholic acid is water-based choleretic agent. It can promote liver cells secrete large amounts of thin bile, increase the capacity of bile, the bile duct flow, the elimination of bile stasis, and to prevent ascending biliary tract infection and to exclude bile duct stones, play a choleretic effect. Also have a role in promoting fat digestion and absorption. Dehydrocholic acid is commonly used for adjuvant therapy for chronic cholecystitis, cholelithiasis, biliary tract dysfunction after cholecystectomy syndrome and chronic hepatitis. It also used to help digestion and absorption of fat and fat-soluble vitamin absorption.
