Applications of Neutral Sizing Agent:
It is used to produce archival paper, durable sheet of typing paper, electrostatic copy paper
 Neutral Sizing Agent
Sizing or size is any one of numerous specific substances that is applied to or incorporated in other material, especially papers and textiles, to act as a protecting filler or glaze.

Sizing does not refer in any way to something's physical size, or scale.

Sizing is used in papermaking and textile manufacturing to change the absorption and wear characteristics of those materials; it is used as a surface preparation for gilding; and it is used by painters and artists to prepare paper and textile surfaces for some art techniques.

Sizing also refers to the process of including or applying the substance.

Some Knowledge About PAM Powder (Anion)

PAM powder (anion)

An ion is an atom or molecule in which the total number of electrons is not equal to the total number of protons, giving it a net positive or negative electrical charge. The name was given by physicist Michael Faraday for the substances that allow a current to pass ("go") between electrodes in a solution, when an electric field is applied. It is the transliteration of the Greek participle ἰόν, ión, "going".

An anion (−) from the Greek word ἄνω (ánō), meaning "up", is an ion with more electrons than protons, giving it a net negative charge (since electrons are negatively charged and protons are positively charged).

Item name: PAM powder (anion)
Purity(HPLC):87% min

The Manufacture of Colloidal Silica

Colloidal silicas are most often prepared in a multi-step process where an alkali-silicate solution is partially neutralized, leading to the formation of silica nuclei. The subunits of colloidal silica particles are typically in the range of 1 to 5 nm. Whether or not these subunits are joined together depends on the conditions of polymerization. Initial acidification of a water-glass (sodium silicate) solution yields Si(OH)4.

Colloidal SilicaIf the pH is reduced below 7 or if salt is added, then the units tend to fuse together in chains. These products are often called silica gels. If the pH is kept slightly on the alkaline side of neutral, then the subunits stay separated, and they gradually grow. These products are often called precipitated silica or silica sols. Hydrogen ions from the surface of colloidal silica tend to dissociate in aqueous solution, yielding a high negative charge. Substitution of some of the Si atoms by Al is known increase the negative colloidal charge, especially when it is evaluated at pH below the neutral point. Because of the very small size, the surface area of colloidal silica is very high.

The colloidal suspension is stabilized by pH adjustment and then concentrated, usually by evaporation. The maximum concentration obtainable depends on the on particle size. For example, 50 nm particles can be concentrated to greater than 50 wt% solids while 10 nm particles can only be concentrated to approximately 30 wt% solids before the suspension becomes too unstable.

Knowledge of Dry Strength Agent

Dry strength agent is an amphoteric polymer, with the appearance of colorless to slightly turbid viscose, greatly enhance the strength of the paper, and good retention performance, reduce Whitewater COD and raw material costs. Adaptability is very well in different pH papermaking system, broader application. Anionic and cationic degree of products are adjustable, can be used in all kinds of papermaking environment and to product various kinds paper.

Dry Strength AgentItem name:Dry Strength AgentPurity(HPLC):20%
CAS No.:25136-75-8

Additions exceeding 0.5 % of a PVAbased cationic dry strength agent fail to give a further strength increase. For dosages above 0.5 %, this saturation is accompanied by a saturation of the polymer level adsorbed on recycled pulps. If dosages of less than 0.5 % are added, 100% of the polymer adsorbs at the recycled pulp which results in a largely linear rise in strength values. When the 0.5 % mark is exceeded, a steadily growing part of the polymers is no longer adsorbed at the fibers so that the strength increase comes to a stop. Functions of the Carrier System. The saturation of polymer adsorption is chiefly charge-driven – a phenomenon that has been confirmed in adsorption tests of polymers with different levels of cationicity. If the saturation point of polymer adsorption is reached owing to a charge reversal, thus preventing a further strength increase, a dry strength agent in the form of a polymer carrying an opposite – i.e. anionic –charge can quantitatively adsorb at the cationic fibers, thus contributing toward higher strength levels. This mechanism has been demonstrated in pertinent studies.

General Information of Surface Sizing Agent

Surface Sizing AgentSurface sizing solutions consists of mainly modified starches and sometimes other hydrocolloids, such as gelatine, or surface sizing agents such as alkyl ketene dimer (AKD) or acrylic co-polymers. Surface sizing agents are amphipathic molecules, having both hydrophilic (water-loving) and hydrophobic (water-repelling) ends. The sizing agent adheres to substrate fibers and forms a film, with the hydrophilic tail facing the fiber and the hydrophobic tail facing outwards, resulting in a smooth finish that tends to be water-repellent. Sizing improves the surface strength, printability, and water resistance of the paper or material to which it is applied. In the sizing solution, optical brightening agents (OBA) may also be added to improve the opacity and whiteness of the paper or material surface.

What Is Polyscrylamide?

Polyscrylamide

Polyscrylamide is a kind of white or slightly yellow powder, a colorless viscous liquid gel-like, soluble in water. It is widely used in water treatment, as well as metallurgy, paper, petroleum, chemicals, textiles, mineral processing and other fields.

Polyacrylamide (IUPAC poly(2-propenamide) or poly(1-carbamoylethylene)) is a polymer (-CH2CHCONH2-) formed from acrylamide subunits. It can be synthesized as a simple linear-chain structure or cross-linked, typically using N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide. Polyacrylamide is not toxic. However, unpolymerized acrylamide, which is a neurotoxin, can be present in very small amounts in the polymerized acrylamide, therefore it is recommended to handle it with caution. In the cross-linked form, the possibility of the monomer being present is reduced even further. It is highly water-absorbent, forming a soft gel when hydrated, used in such applications as polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and in manufacturing soft contact lenses. In the straight-chain form, it is also used as a thickener and suspending agent. More recently, it has been used as a subdermal filler for aesthetic facial surgery (see Aquamid).
